Apolloaileen | Dick Gordon will be appearing in Glasgow on Wednesday 17th October 2012 for two events. There will be a extended question and answer session in the stylish Merchant City area of the city centre in the relaxing setting of Blackfriars Club at 11am. In the evening there will be a full lecture event at Glasgow Caledonian University beginning at 7.30pm. Both events are £30 or buy a combo ticket for £50. Both events include a complimentary autograph. For full details and to purchase tickets, see Walk With Destiny. |
MarylandSpace | I have always enjoyed hearing Dick Gordon. I hope all of my Scottish cousins partake of this opportunity. Have a wee doc and doris for me tae. |
MCroft04 | I was fortunate to have dinner with Dick at the Apollo 16 40th celebration. It was a fantastic evening and I bet that you will not be disappointed! Have fun. |
robert_l | Yes, have always wanted to meet Dick Gordon. Thanks again to Aileen for making this possible! |
Skyguy48 | Aileen, how is the Dick Gordon event coming along, is it a go? |
Apolloaileen | Yes it sure is a go! It's all going well at this end. Hope to see some of you there!
|
Apolloaileen | Just a reminder that there are still some tickets available to meet Dick Gordon in Glasgow later this month. Hope to see some of you there. |
robert_l | Thanks to Aileen and Dick a marvelous time at both events today. one of the highlights was Dick talking about his Gemini flight. I learned a lot about the Gemini program I did not know, e.g. no hot water for drinks! I managed to get the Apollo 12 Kilt in the auction! |
Tykeanaut | YOU MUST wear it to Pontefract!! |

Who's going to be brave enough to check that it is worn properly? A job for our Rick methinks. |
robert_l | It wont be ready in time. I still have to be measured for it it. Normally takes several weeks but will have it by the time of Ken's next event? |
Skyguy48 | Absolutely thrilled you got your kilt Robert and you're the "First Man" to wear it and you're now part of history!!! |
spaceman | Congratulations to Aileen and all. Another great event for space enthusiasts. We attended both events, Richard was able to make them both interesting and entertaining. I did enquire as to who the next guest would be. The successful organisation and completion of these events must take its toll. Aileen deserves a rest.....but hopefully not too long. It was a long day for Richard up at 5.00 am and still signing up until about 11.00 pm. He had time for everyone, he was especially encouraging to the younger members of the audience. We are very lucky that the Apollo guys find it sufficiently rewarding to keep coming back. There is a growing space minded community over here so long may the visits and the enthusiasm continue. |
prontouk | Just wanted to put on my record my thanks for this event. This is the first time I have able to meet an Apollo astronaut and it will certainly stick in my memory. The morning Q&A was a lovely small event and I never expected to be able to ask him a question but was pleasantly surprised when he spotted my hand at the back. Now I know the difference in feeling between launching in a Titan rocket ("like a sports car") compared to the Saturn ("more like an old man's rocket"). Glad to see the evening lecture was packed out as well. Many thanks for the opportunity and I hope to be able support any future projects run by Aileen. — Mark |
Apolloaileen | Many thanks to all those who attended and made the Glasgow events such a wonderful success as well as a sell-out. It is a lot of work over many months to put events like this on so I appreciate all your kind words and emails. Cheers |
